2005-2006 Application and Eligibility Guidelines

Students are eligible to be considered for a CollegeCorps’ internship program if they:

  • Are a citizen/legal permanent resident or national of the United States,
  • Are currently enrolled in a Boston or New York City area accredited college or university as full-time, degree-seeking student
  • Demonstrate a strong desire to improve living conditions of those in developing countries, and
  • Have demonstrated leadership abilities through participation in community/public service, extracurricular or other activities.

Application Requirements

A complete CollegeCorps application includes:

  • The online application, submitted on or before February 1, 2006
  • Two letters of recommendation from faculty at your university who are closely aware of your academic achievement and interests, submitted on or before February 1, 2006
  • A copy of your official transcript, including fall grades
  • A copy of your 2005-2006 Financial Aid Award Letter (if applicable)
  • A signed letter from a faculty member at your university who is willing to oversee a related research project
  • Nonrefundable $35 application fee

CollegeCorps is much more concerned with your interest in international development, your ability to lead, and your previous volunteer experience and thus does not require a minimum grade point average (GPA) to apply.

This is a highly competitive and involved process, and students are urged to submit their online application as soon as possible to ensure that their application is complete and that they meet all requirements prior to the application deadline.   Students will be invited for interviews on a rolling basis through March 2006.

Before you begin, we strongly recommend that you print a copy of the complete application so that you can prepare your answers before entering them online.
